may bukas pa

Huwag damdamin ang kasawian
May bukas pa sa iyong buhay
Sisikat din ang iyong araw
Ang landas mo ay mag-iilaw

Sa daigdig ang buhay ay ganyan
Mayroong ligaya at lumbay
Maghintay at may nakalaang bukas

May bukas pa sa iyong buhay
Tutulungan ka ng Diyos na may lalang
Ang iyong pagdaramdam
Idalangin mo sa Maykapal
Na sa puso mo ay mawala nang lubusan

there is still tomorrow. please don't forget that you can get through today.

scholarships

When writing my personal statement for the CBA scholarships, I realized that my college experience really would not be the same without scholarships. There's the obvious benefit of free money, but really there's so much more...

Without the CIS Dept/Hitachi Consulting scholarship my freshman year, I'm pretty sure Dr. Curl (the department chair) wouldn't know me and wouldn't write recommendations for me. I also know for sure that Chris Lord wouldn't know of me and I wouldn't be a candidate for the summer internship there.

If Prof. Guthrie didn't see my scholarship applications, he wouldn't have recommended me for ITC Co-Chairperson. That position right there really altered this past school year...

Damn. Scholarships.

god's spawn!

Anak Bathala: an MMO RPG set in the ancient Philippine Islands! It looks ghetto, but the concept is awesome!

In other news... we (pNotes) may be singing this song for PACN: Gaano Ko Ikaw Kamahal (link goes to an mp3 of a solo version). It'll sound awesome if we can pull it off...

And I will be doing the following dances for PACN:

zomg!

I'm a finalist for the President's Council Scholarship!!! (=

I'm not home free yet, though. I still have an interview on May 3rd, which is also the same day as my IBM 411 (consumer behavior) midterm and when I have to turn in my first 7 pages of my research paper for CIS 328 (IT careers).

Not to mention the fact that the rest of the week is comprised of a TOM 301 midterm on Tuesday, an interview with Hitachi Consulting on Friday and ITC on Saturday.

Let's hope I don't bomb the interview, yes?

The people interviewing me are some rather impressive people: Drs. Tim & Annie Siu, Catherine Hudspeth and Hovel Babikian (all members of the President's Council).

What am I doing writing this blog?!

history lesson / observations

Easter was spent with the family. Good times! We had a money-full easter egg hunt, delicious food, guitar hero, and all that jazz, but what I thought made this Easter awesomeness was what I learned about my family.
  • My lolo's family used to work in a bakery and made pancakes and donut holes from scratch for my mom and her siblings.
  • My lolo saved them from going out of business by winning the sweepstakes lottery!
  • My lolo placed 3rd in all of the Philippines when he took his engineering boards.
  • My lolo was involved with the Bataan March. Luckily though, they just made him a water boy at the army base.
  • My lolo was wanted [forgot by whom]. He was courting my lola at the time and when they [whoever they were] came by her house to look for him, he snuck out the window.
  • My lola wasn't fond of studying, yet was able to teach her kids how to read and write.
  • When my lola came to the states, she wanted to get a job, but her sons wanted her to just relax since she had been a hard working mother for so long.
  • Supposedly, my uncle was kicked out of the navy for being afraid of the water. [not sure about the credibility of this one.]
  • Demi sucks at Scrabble. [lol.]
  • Emily is a dancer in training.
  • Kobe is one fat dog. [well, already knew this one, but yeah.]
  • Demi is a hard core guitar hero!
  • Lea wants to go to art school.
  • Ate Jill is not a fan of tangy, although Demi is.
Good times. It's always great finding out this stuff. I don't know why I'm so hesitant to find out more... Mahiyain ako.

wow.

and i just realized that that screenie had a blog post from april 16, too! which is what today is! wow. a year later and i'm still insomnia-ing.

teh Debut

Yes, I am still awake.

I've been working on an assignment for my CIS 328 class. I have to list 5 accomplishments, describe them, list the skills i used, and the results for each of them. So far, I've written one. Wanna know what I wrote about?

My debut.

I didn't realize until I did this assignment how much work that debut required. I mean, I knew, but damn. Listing all the tasks I did just now gave me the warm fuzzy feeling of accomplishment, yet again.

My debut was the day before Easter. Now today is Easter. Wow.

Another thing I noticed: I take on projects blindly.

I had never been in a debut before, yet there I was, planning my own, without the help of a previous debutante. (Thanks to everyone who did help, though! I'm just saying that I didn't really have much advice from the experienced.)

And here I am again. A freaking co-chairperson for an event I've never even been to!

Wow. I wonder what stressful task I'll take on next year.

Oh yeah. Another blind project: Sportsfest. Hahah. I'd never been to one, but I ended up being assistant coordinator for volleyball! (same as Joy, except she was the head honcho! sp?)

I dunno what else to write about.

...How sad. I have no more accomplishments. Hahah. I guess I'll just sleep for now then.

(btw, my mom got me a down-feather alternative comforter and all the little feathers are coming out! they poke.)

(btw, again, i just wasted the last i don't know how long looking through my archived blogs trying to find the code/script to make contractable headers that i just found out don't even work in ff. boo. in case you were wondering, which you probably aren't, i was gonna make the "My debut." up there a contractable header and what i wrote about my debut was gonna be hidden/visible. oh well. i got to read through some old posts! i really liked my gifts & curses blog layout. i'm gonna make a screenie!)
